Initially I thought of writing the review of DPS, but then I felt it’s better to drop some quotes and classic highlights, to make you wonder about flow of elegance playing on screen, 128 minutes.

The real teachers inspired by Dead Poets Society - BBC News

“So avoid using the word ‘very’ because it’s lazy. A man is not very tired, he is exhausted. Don’t use very sad, use morose. Language was invented for one reason, boys – to woo women – and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do. It also won’t do in your essays.”

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here – that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”

“I close my eyes, and this image floats beside me.

A sweaty toothed mad man with a stare that pounds my brain.

His hands reach out and choke me, and all the time he’s mumbling.

“Truth, truth.”

Like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold.

You push it, stretch it, but it’ll never be enough.

You kick at it, beat it, it’ll never cover any of us.

From the moment we enter crying,

to the moment we leave dying,

it’ll just cover your face,

as you wail and cry and scream.”
